About Me

Hello everyone, my name is Amanda Lee and I am a registered dental hygienist (RDH) and graduate student in the Masters of Health Studies Program at Athabasca University.

I received by Diploma of Dental Hygiene from Dalhousie University in 2014, and my Bachelor of Dental Hygiene in 2015. My diploma granted me the ability to provide dental hygiene care, and my degree opened the door to clinical instructing of dental hygiene students.

Over the past four years I have worked full-time, primarily in private practice dental hygiene, and secondarily as a clinical instructor at Dalhousie University. In private practice, I provide essential oral health care and education to members of my community; My goal is to bridge the gap between oral health and overall health. In clinical instructing, I assist students with developing their instrumentation, and evaluate their progress. I also use my experience in private practice to educate and inspire students to become confident and competent oral health care professionals.

I am completing this degree with the intention to become further integrated in the Faculty of Dentistry/Dental Hygiene at Dalhousie University. I hope to bring new ideas and methodologies to oral health education, and help shape the minds of the future oral health ambassadors in my community, and beyond.

This website will serve as a display of my progress in the Masters of Health Studies Program, and provide insight to other health professionals about my role in the Canadian health care system. For more information about my role as an RDH and organizations I am involved with, please visit my page The Dental Hygiene Profession. Thank you for visiting, and please leave a comment in my contact section or on my blog page.
